I've just gone and bought SPD shoes and cleats (Shimano). I don't think I'd tightened them properly, and on my second trip, I pull my foot in a strange way, and the cleat become lose. I lost a screw and the plate that has two holes for the screws. I looked all over the road, but couldn't see them.

Other than buying new cleats, is there a place to get screws and the little cover? If so, what is the names of the bits I'm looking for, so I can look on the internet?

Thanks in advance

Just pop in to one of your lbs's & explain the situation. They may have a few lying about in the bottom of a tool box.

Are you talking about the plate that's inside the sole of the shoe? Are you sure it hasn't just moved inside the shoe?

Thanks for the ideas.

By the way, MM, no, it's the external part. There's an internal part which remained in the shoe. I've attached a jpeg. Each cleat has two screws and one thing with two holes for the screws. I've lost that one thing, plus one screw.

Ah, I see. You mean the thing in the bottom left of that picture. Gotcha. ;)

If you can't get a free one you can always buy a spare set of cleats and borrow the part. They're only about £5-6 and you'll need them eventually.

Flippin' 'eck, where do you buy your SPD cleats? I'll have six pairs at that price!

xx( I could have sworn I'd seen them that cheap but on looking they don't seem to exist. Best I can find is actually about £12 posted. At that price it almost seems a better idea to spring for some M520s with cleats which would be just under £22 posted. That way you get some pedals for your other bikes (which you WILL buy).
