I'm about to fit my new Shimano RS100 rear wheel but I don't know whether I need to use the included spacer with my Shimano CS-HG500 10-speed cassette.

Please share your wise thoughts.

I think the answer depends on whether you have an HG10 or HG11 freehub.

I've never replaced a wheel before - can you tell from THIS?

You can indeed :-)

(Click on "View More Details" under Product Specification. The hub is listed as 11/10 rear speeds)

Thanks to all for your kind advice. PS: My cassette didn't come with a spacer.
The wheels usually come with the spacers needed for fitting different cassettes. The cassettes don't come with any spacers.

Edit: If you don't have one then pop to your LBS they'll have spares for a quid or two.
