I have just received and fitted my new Spa Cycles wheelset, Ultegra & Chrina rims. I’ve noticed that they even put the wheelbuilders name on them.

Ooh, I've just checked my recent delivery of Zenith and Chrina - same builder! (Though I think they only have one).
On the plus side he should be proud of his work, they're lovely wheels.

I had a set of Chrinas on Tiagra hubs, from SPA. Didn't take long before the eyelets started to rip out of the rim and eventually the rear hub fractured on the NDS flange and 2 spokes immediately lost tension - rim 'banana-fied', meh. I have built my own wheels last summer (Chrina on 105 hubs), so far they are ok, aside from one spoke breaking on the rear and it needing to be completely re-tensioned. I have had to tweak it a cpl of times but we'll see if the rims hold up better than the first set!!

Colin is the guy in their Marathon Plus fitting video. Spoken to him a few times and he's knows his wheels and is also a lovely guy.

It used to be common for a good and proud wheelbuilder to put a little sticker on the wheels with his (or her!) name on. Sadly that seems to have fallen by the wayside now people buy complete wheelsets from manufacturers rather than hubs and rims separately.
