I Meant South Wales but before i noticed id submitted.......

Im looking to get back out on the bike now after the long cold winter we had.

Looking to do some easy - medium mountain and down hill tracks and also looking to find some people to ride with.

Still class my self as a medium skill rider as last couple of summers were the first time back on a bike after several years.

Anyone know of any good places to ride. I live in Cwmbran near Newport.

Well Cwmcarn is on your doorstep and with transport a short drive will take you to The Afan Valley which is home to some of the best MTB trails in the country.

My dad and brother live in Cwmbran and whenever I visit I try to take the MTB so Bro and me can do a lap or two of Cwmcarn. Don't bother driving all the way round to Cwmcarn as you can access the route above Cwmbran right up at the top of Henllys Lane above the wooded area. There is nowhere to park near the top so a bit of a climb to cycle to the top.

Other than that, Cwmbran is on the doorstep of some beautiful countryside, get an OS map and go exploring that hill or head in the other direction towards Llandegfedd or Llangybi. Look for bridleways and see what you find?

Finally the bike is ready for riding. Not sure about me though. it has been 6 months

Shame i cant really read a map otherwise id be alright.

Just want to get out riding away from canals and road and have some fun on some rougher ground and some down hill / xc stuff.
