Sony HT SF1000

I have this 5.1 system for sale, as all in one tall boy systems go, this is regarded as one of the best, unfortunately the model is discontinued as it was a bit expensive for the market it was aimed at. I'm only selling as I'm upgrading to 7.1 with multiple subs. It's good sounding and very stylish. The unit consists of a processor/amp, left, right, center, rear left, rear right and subwoofer speakers. It makes TV and films come alive. If you've not gone 5.1, this is the perfect system for you to begin with. Easy to use, multiple connections and doesn't take up a lot of space. You simply plug your DVD/BluRay/TV/VHS/Console into it via HDMI/Optical/Coaxial Digital and connect your speakers and that's it. It comes with a calibration mic that even does all the settings for you depending on your room.

Features include
# 5.1- channel amplifier with 1000W total power output (RMS)
# Slim and stylish surround sound kit with floor-standing speakers
# 32-bit S-Master Digital Amplifier
# Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC) - automatic sound optimisation
# HDMI switcher for a high-quality digital picture
# FM/AM radio tuner
# Digital Direct Twin subwoofer
# Dolby Digital and DTS decoder
# A/V Sync for perfect sound and image synchronisation with flat panel TVs

The 1000w rms bit is a bit of a lie but trust me when I say this, it goes loud enough. The speakers can also be wall mounted by taking the lower half of the legs off. Also the HDMI is only a video switcher with passthru and can't actually process the sound from it.

Notable Features
AV Sync - Very handy sometimes and most other all in one systems don't do it.
Dynamic Compression - Great for nighttime watching where it keeps the volume to an average level by raising up voices and compressing peaks so things like explosions etc don't wake the whole house up.
Feature Modes - Things like dual stereo are great for general tv watching, it can also replicate surround effects where there are none. It does it quite well too.
DD,DTS,Cinema Studio EX. A/B/C, 96k/24Bit PCM, Dolby Dual Mono, Dolby Prologic I/II modes - Pretty much covered. I always used DTS with films.

Audio was where this system really shone. We found the tonal balance perfect for DVD watching. The deceptively small subwoofer offered just the right level of crunching bass that gave our movies a great, visceral feel. Surround audio was well rendered, as highlighted by our test scenes from The Matrix. You could hear individual ammunition shells falling all around you, mixed in with water droplets and chipped granite. There was a good level of differentiation between sounds and they were well positioned. For movies, this is one of the best systems we've heard in recent months.

So all said and done, I've had it for a couple of years and really like it. It was brought for £350 and that was a good deal at the time!

Yours for £180 collected from London E14 ;)
