Another basic question on the old bike I'm trying to resurrect with limited funds. Although the teeth on my Uniglide cassette seem in good shape, I have noticed that there seem to be odd teeth dotted about on the cogs that are shorter than the majority. Is this by design? They all seem to be uniformly short, and if they are broken, they have clean, level breaks. I can't believe that most teeth are good, and some are wrecked.
I'm really hoping to be able to save this bike. It's great to ride, and because it's mostly used on the road, and I'm lazy, being 6 spd, it's happy with me using mostly only one crank cog, and just swapping between the rear gears. I can do this all day, without the problem of cross chaining damaging anything. Don't know why new bikes have so many gears.
Any advice appreciated.
