So two weeks after getting "back on my bike" following a number of years abstinence I have started to notice an improvement on my riding.

My course takes in two hills, one long and gradual and the other short and steep, the first one has made me stop halfway up but today I managed to do it in one go. Absolutely f@cked in my legs near the top and nearly didn't unclip when I wobbled but I made it.

Still someway from a Col though!

Give it another two weeks and you will be doing both hills without getting off. :becool:
Amazing how quickly the body learns to cope with these things. Keep it up!

Try taking it in a lower gear, but spinning the legs faster. Your heart will be going like crazy and lungs fit to bust, instead of legs about to collapse, but will be better for your knees.

Oh, and make sure that you are half way up before your breathing gets really heavy, or you will fail again.

Good this cycling lark isn't it? You'll be looking for steeper, longer and faster before the month is out!!

Congratulations. Its always good when you notice a big improvement like that.

In a few months you'll probably look back and wonder why you used to struggle.
