Hello

Was looking for some advice. My office is currently moving to the Trident near Manchester office, Post Code: M22 5XB.

I am just in Altrincham area so a mere 5 - 6 miles depending on route. Live right by the Altrincham Football Club.

I was just wondering on safety wise is it alright to do the country lanes? Esp with it being near winter? I've got a High Vis jacket, front lights, back lights and a really bright orange specialized :smile:.

Any thoughts? Or am I just worrying about nothing? :/

Probably worth having a look at it on a quiet day in the summer - size up what the lighting is like &c when you're not relying on it.

Here's what Cyclestreets recommends;

I live not far from where you work and occasionally go to Altrincham/Hale (although rarely at rush hour).

Whitecarr Lane into Wythenshawe is very, very quiet and the roads through Wythenshawe to Styal Rd are pretty wide (Simonsway has a shared cycle/pedestrian route if you like that sort of thing); however, the road surface is pretty poor and other vehicles tend not to be quite as alert since its so quiet...

Thorley Lane and then Ringway Rd are both wide roads but it is much, much busier - so you'll get more overtakes, but hopefully from other road users expecting other vehicles to be there.

You can do Thorley Lane and then there is a shared (pedestrian/cycle) route that starts at Painswick Park and goes up to Simonsway and then back down Styal Rd ( see http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map ).
