Following my accident last year which wrote off my 1970's Galaxy commuter, I can't ride on drops any more so Mrs B and I are selling our drop bar bikes - in my case this is my other touring Galaxy - and learning to love our mtb's. I can email photos of either bike to anyone who pm's me for them.

They are -

1990's Mens' Dawes Galaxy triple in the traditional green, Reynolds 531 tubing, 23" frame, 21 gears, indexed downtube shifters, mudguards, Bor Yueh rear rack, Alesa rims, new 700x28 Marathon+ tyres ridden twice since fitting. Has had a professional ream and sleeve done at Argos Racing Cycles and a bit of Loctite 243 applied to the sealed unit BB when fitted afterwards (as advised on forum - brand new bb shells are often so 'clean' they need a bit of help to keep the bb snug). I will throw in a spare set of 700C wheels also with Marathon + tyres on.
Reduced to £225.

Ladies' Raleign Impulse Racing Cycle in white / light green, 19.5" frame, mudguards, 12 gears, indexed stem-mounted shifters, 700x28 (I think they're 28's) Conti tyres, matching white seat and bar tape.
Reduced to £40.

Cash on collection by arrangement, or can meet up within 25 mile radius of Derby.

Shame it's a 23", I'd be split at the seams riding that. Great prices though.

How big is 23 inch? My Inside leg is 32.5, will it be too big? (I'm about 5'11")

59cm or thereabouts, but iirc the Galaxy is a horizontal top tube - you only need a fistful or so of seatpost showing, ideally.

My inside leg is around 34", and I found a 23" frame (a Nigel Dean that was my first road bike) ever so slightly too small. Could be worth a look.

Check out this CTC post, incidentally;
http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=10975 5'10" bloke is riding a 59cm according to the last post.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but it shouldn't keep you off the bikes altogether.

Have you looked into converting the Galaxy to something more upright like Butterfly bars or flats and bar ends?

Nice bikes - just wish I had the cash smile.gif

The flat bar conversion isn't something that appeals to me - I'd rather see someone else get to enjoy the Galaxy 'as intended'. We're enjoying our mtb's, so at least I can keep cycling. :smile:
