Software to trim videos

Been submitting cycling footage to police for a good few years now. But recently microsoft has removed the ability to do this from with microsoft photos and directs you to use clipchamp - this seems a lot more complex and its not that easy to perform a straightforward trim.
I can do it in adobe - but this involves uploading the video - then downloading the trimmed version - takes ages .....

so any recommendations for some simple trim software - preferably none cloud based......

Cheers All

The old Microsoft Movie Maker can do that. It’s self contained and thus if you can get a legit copy it should just work. I use it on Windows 10.

I've just used Microsoft Photos to trim a few seconds off the ends of a video.

Do you have an old version? As @kingrollo stated, MS disabled editing in Photos to try and force their "customers" to use Clipchamp, which is why I haven't posted any stills of foxes or badgers recently. I tried loading a legacy version of Photos, but that didn't allow editing, either.
Microshaft are not my favourite company right now.:cursing:

Unless I am missing something, I can still edit in Microsoft photos using Windows 11. The trim button is top left as seen in my screen shot. Admittedly they do try to get you to use Clipchamp.

I used to use that when I was a teacher and it worked fine - no license needed or anything
came free with Windows

Then it became all licensed and they wanted registration and then payment - all for nothing so no longer free with windows

Last time I tried it all worked fine if you could find the old version - but newer version were nowhere near as good for simple stuff nad generally a pain to try to use - even if you did register and everything

I don't know, how do you tell? It's not anything I've bought or downloaded, it's been there since I bought the (Windows 10) laptop.
I found this, is it the version number: 2024.11100.16009.0

There's a button in the settings to "Open Clipchamp", perhaps if you click it there's no going back?

VideoPad is good, although perhaps a bit overkill for simply clipping a video. It's free for non-commercial use.

Its cousin WavePad, for audio files, is pretty good too.

By Jove, you're right! I'm sure that the editing facility was disabled, though, and this was the subject of lots of online discussion. Since I gave up in disgust, and just ran my trailcam videos in Mediaplayer, I suspect MS might have responded to the howls of outrage and put things right.
I have a shedload of nocturnal videos to edit and rename with date, species etc., enough to fill many a rainy day! Thanks, both.

Badgers.
The only live ones I've seen are the family that live(d) in the woods next to Barrow House YHA. The staff used to put a pile of kitchen scraps on a tree stump out at the front, and at dusk they used to come out for a feast. They let people get quite close, too.

We have a visiting Badger in our garden in the middle of Bristol. One evening sat outside he walked past close enough to reach out and touch, though tempting as it was, I thought better of it.
