Well what's your poison?

I've got a little IPOD Nano that's my cycling pal and I've found a pretty varied bunch of tunes that aid my riding.

Prodigy - All Albums make me pedal like a nutter {the new Omen is particualry good}
SlipKnot - I ride harder but find I have far less tolerance for the world.
Timerbland - I keep my cadence for every two steps but it's still much nicer on the early mornings.
The Maccabees - the coulour it in Album alows me to ride at more ambley pace of 18mph but I could ride forever listening to the tunes and for some weird reason it always appears to match the scenery.

So, what's the soundtrack to your life riding?

I haven't yet started cycling (soon, soon!) but I shall be listening to some thrash metal to get me pumping. I don't like dance music (which would've been good for cycling) so I'll just have to metal it out :biggrin:

Ah well.

I want to hear the car behind before it kills me.

I'll mainly be cycling on cycle paths and in parks, so hopefully I'll be okay :smile: Though I'm sure there will be some idiot whizzing around on a motorbike or something, there nearly always is round here

Me too!

I do have a number of tunes in my mental Mp3 that seem to be on repeat when I ride longer distances or if I am attempting a particularly long climb. It does vary a fair bit but a few keep popping up, these include;

Shadow on the Sun - Audioslave
Cross Town Traffic - Jimi Hendrix
Stereophonics - Bartender and the Thief

The 3rd seems to be the one that varies the most....

Nokia N73 full of techno. !50 bpm gives me a cadence of 75 plus it integrates with my GPS dongle and gives me directions when I fancy venturing into the unknown.

I get wound up when pedestrians where these things whilst walking along a shared cycle way. I shout "Hello", ring my bell and when I eventually have to pass them I get a look of indignation :biggrin::angel::shy: Hence I will not cycle with them in, I like to hear as much as possible going on around me.

I also enjoy riding for the surroundings and if I have a major sense taken out of the equation it restricts the enjoymet levels for me.

I wouldn't listen to music whilst out on the bike. As someone with Auditory Processing Disorder, it might be one risk too far!
But current favourites are:
Echoes - Pink Floyd
Best of Love and Rockets
early Japan
Mothership - Led Zeppelin

Well songs which motivate me to spin them pedals faster when doing my paperround (i dont listen to music when on proper rides) include:
Highway to hell: ACDC
The Chain: Fleetwood mac (i first heard this in my dads car on an empty motorway, the bassline seem to make his rightfoot heavier)
Whole lotta love: Led Zep
Comfortably numb: Pink Floyd
Wont get fooled again: The Who

and many more =]
