not being too technical, wot's cchat need the cookies for anyway?
Surely it has all it needs to know about us to make stuff function/call our stuff up by getting us to sign in?

It uses cookies for that. Any site that requires a sign in to do certain functions also requires cookies to keep track of the fact you are signed in.

There will also be a variety of other things for which cookies are needed, though the things like new posts probably won't be, that is more likely database records linked to your user.

I've been clicking on New Posts ever since the wind blew my fence down, but they still haven't turned up.
