This happened to my rotor , basically riding with our dog at the side and dog darted in front broke hard and turned to avoid and headed a clunk as the bike stopped . Rotor came right out of the caliper and snapped apart so now its time for an upgrade/ repair any advice on 1 how the hell it happened and 2 reasonably priced upgrade including shop done labour

That looks mildly horrifying. I don't have disc brakes, so can't advise, but this looks like a reason to avoid them to me!

I'm going for a sit down with a sugary tea just at the thought of that happening at speed.

Lol wasn't going too fast but it did make my bottom clench when the front wheel locked . Only fifteen minutes earlier I was going down an incline at 20 mph with no protection at all so coulda been a lot worse

Sounds about right.

At a guess (...and it is a guess...) you've probably got 180mm on the front and 160mm on the back.

Oh yeah I figured that one out myself as I was taking it off lol , I'm just pleased that in my rush to ride it didn't end up worse I've been riding it for weeks nothing and today was enjoying motoring down stuff so it could have easily been a nasty day today . I won't be making g this mistake again that's for sure
