Sunrise Express and Snowdrop Express Audaxes

....the only audax you should be thinking about this winter!

A superb event to help you blow out those winter cobwebs, get some winter training or merely enjoy a leisurely ride through the crisp and hopefully sunny weather. The routes start at Hartlebury in North Worcestershire and head off to circuit the Vale of Evesham

This is a popular audax with up to 300 riders and only one of a few at this time of year. So make sure you book a place as soon as you can, you can do this online and for only £4.

Snowdrop Express. 09.00. 123km anti-clockwise

Did the Snowdrop in '08.

There WAS snow. Roads were icy and Organiser offered direct route to Upton.
Straight through Worcester and south on A38.
Bitter cold.

IIRC, temp at start was minus 1.

Rode on Conti Gatorskins at 110 psi. No problems.

There really is a ferry that crosses the river right by the Control cafe* ... foot passengers, although they will take bikes ... fare was 50p per person last time I used it in the summer (bikes go free, no need to book!!)

* it probably reduces the distance by about a mile or so that you ride and retrace

This is questionable.

Audax rules states "any kind of cycle", but as the ferry isn't, but IS propelled by muscular effort, if the Audax participant does the cable pulling, it might count as OK.

This is a quick apology to those who entered but their forms were rejected. This year has produced a bumper number of riders (240 in total) and we were at our insurance limit for the two events. For those of you who succeeded, the weather looks as though we will be devoid of the ice and snow as experience in some previous years, yippee.

Our next audax event will be the Cotswold Audaxes in June. And be warned these always sell out well in advance!
