Well my two oldest lads aint gonna be happy, no snow nor hint of any falling, for me it looks like a safer journey to work, as I can`t see that pesky black ice from the last two/three days .

The forecast for my neck of the woods, according to the main BBC forecast was *cold* with high (ish) winds and snow. The reality is there's little wind, no snow and not even a frost. Yesterday morning at this time, outside was covered in a white frost. This morning - cold, but not any frost at all.

The Metcheck forecast appears to be much closer to reality.

All that fuss for nothing, there a was a howling gale in the night and lots of sleet but very little snow there is evidence of it on the ground but not the 6 inches predicted.

I just popped out before in my car and it was snowing then but it soon stopped, thank goodness I didn't get pulled over by the rozzers as I was still in my PJs:blush::smile:

We've got your snow here, Louise. 6", but starting to melt. Everyone seems to be taking the day off work from the lack of tyre tracks.

I have just telephoned Lancashire Police to give them a piece of my mind about the traffic muppets, who have blocked off the A56 over the top from Rising Bridge to Hyndburn, inconveniencing thousands of northbound motorists. They have just been up with two ploughs and the road is COMPLETELY CLEAR of snow yet they still keep the barriers closed. I told the WPC that they were a bunch of muppets and she replied that she wouldn't be using that language but would pass on the message.

On whose authority are gritter drivers allowed to block the Queen's highway just to massage their egos?

It's missed me, but I believe it's bad a bit further east and North in Manchester. South Manchester - very windy, and freezing rain (made the face ache).

Ice has more or less melted....and ...I'm back on the bike.....whooooo

6 inches? We only had about two inches of settled snow in Emley (as opposed to banks of slush at the side of teh road whihc were much thicker).

Having said that I managed to make a snowman with my eldest before setting off to work.
