snapped chain

hypothetical at the moment..and building up my saddle tool kit so would like to be prepared if it happened


what would I need to get me home if my chain snapped out on a ride


my current chain is a Shimano 105 CN-5701 106 links

cheers...what would the chain tool be?..when googled they look more like a workshop item

also..as its only one link does it matter what speed it is..I see they vary from 7 to 10 speed...although I do have a 10 speed

Yes. You will find that most (all) chain splitters have two chain holders to cater for the differing chain widths.

The repair link has to be the correct one for a tenspeed.

Depending on where the break is, you will probably need the chain tool to remove a pin or half a link that is broken, in order to fit the powerlink

Also, when it comes to replacing your chain, get SRAM or KMC. Shimano ones are sh1te.

Avoid cheap chain splitters. They will break after a couple of uses.

I highly recommend the park tool chain splitter, look on ebay I got mine dirty cheap off there.
