Of course there is. Motorists are blind when they want to be, or when they are in a rush and are more important than a mere cyclist.

I saw a guy riding around London on these and commented to him at the lights that his bike looked like a funfair.

There was NO WAY anyone could have gone past him and not noticed, however, they I wouldn't be surprised if a driver took their eyes off the road to look spectacle and hit another cyclist

Yep, hell of a distraction. They'll be illegal before long.

You'd be surprised what can be SMIDSY'd. Even a 'kin big red London double decker bus by a taxi driver that did a U-turn right in front, causing an emergency stop.
