Why does it take so long? I had someone write my car off (Car wa parked, and woman in 4x4 was tring to reverse park but climbed over my car and crushed it!!!) and it was 4 weeks tops for payout for new car.

A number of reasons:

Agreeing facts.

Determining fault/liability..... each of which involves exchange of letters with set time to respond

Allowing injuries to resolve.

Assessing medical outcome by medico legal specialist (It was not till October that things really began to settle back to normal)

Lodging legal claim with court.

Deciding whether to settle now or wait for full resolution of minor niggles (estimate 18 moths from accident)
