Got a 10% discount voucher from CRC so thought I'd treat myself.

Only ever had cheapo Tesco or the 3 LED Smart ones before,so this is hopefully going to make me more visible for the winter.

My co-worker who cycles has one. Pretty good light imo.
Very bright and he said batteries last forever on flashing mode.

Cheers guys, sounds like it meets the CC seal of approval then

Seems daft to have 2 Hopes on the front and only a crappy one on the back.
Will have it on flashing mode with the cheapo on steady I think.

Ta for the reminder about the CRC discount Potsy, I lost a rear light somehow and need a replacement.

No problem, mine ends on the 15th Nov and needed a bottom bracket after ordering the wrong size last time, the correct one was only £8 which is £4 cheaper than the wrong one which I'm sending back when I get round to it.
Seemed rude not to buy a rear light at the same time,as I've been putting that off a while

If it's as good as the 1/2 watt superflash you won't go wrong!

I've always put a smear of silicone grease on the join on mine and they're happy in torrential rain - may be worth doing with this light.

Be aware that the 1/2 watt refers to the LED maximum rating - if this ran at 2 x 1/2 watt then the batteries would last at most 2 hours!!!

I went for a 1/2 watt again as I've got the fittings on all my bikes and it were cheaper.

Browsing the lights on CRC I was peed off at how few of the item descriptions mentioned the battery requirements. Or the fittings.

It'd be good to see your light when you bring it along at the end of the month Potsy and see how it is in real life.
There seems to be a spare place.

I like the fact the R2 takes 2AAA's can buy 4 and have 2 in and 2 spare.

As for the end of the month bash,I'm in Paris that weekend with Tharg

Use rechargeables - you'll save a fortune.

Every weekend I have to charge 8 AA's for the Hopes,2 AA's for my work radio headset, plus various AAA's for stuff at home.
Have always gone with with normal AAA's for the rear lights as they last so long anyway, tend to but them when they are on special offer and they can last me 6 months or more

I got Duracell rechargeable ones, amazing, in my rear lights they will last a good 6-8 weeks....well worth it.

I haven't yet changed the non-rechargeables in either of my Smarts, which I've had for over a year. I think that is Potsy's point.
