...well not England as a whole, but since I have been bacj from my German tour I have ridden twice...and on each occassion I have been subjected to the usual verbal abuse and threatening driving from the scum of Essex. Not once in Europe did I ever get even a nasty look...what is it with English motorists??? I put it down to pure ignorance and peasantry.;)

Glad I'm not still in Essex! ;)

Sorry to hear that, BTFB! Yeah, Europeans do tend to behave MUCH better than the fine folk of Chavland!

Be careful!

I take offence at this thread. I think you'll find we are all part of the UK and that motorists are just as bad in Scotland as they are in England......:wacko::blush:

At least I think I am offended.....;)

Having just come back from France they are incredibly polite to cyclists as a rule but then again I don't get any grief down here. I did a week in N Essex and S Suffolk earlier this year and we had a few chavvy moments

I've been back from Bavaria a week, where I had a brilliant time. Since then I've rode over 110 miles with no problems, but when marshalling at a junction on the East Yorkshire Classic on Sunday I saw an irate driver trying to intimidate a 70+ year old marshall to let him through a road closure. He soon wound his neck in when more of us gathered round his car. A nearby PCSO dealt with him. Knobber. The more I stand back and look at British society I think we've got in this massive hurry, and are not enjoying life as we go along. Impatience is rife, people lose their tempers at the drop of a hat over trivial matters. Collectively we need to take a F*CKIN' big chill pill. Smile and breath out.
