Okay,me timer said i had completed 22km(about 13miles) in 1hr 10min.Traffic,wind does'nt really bother me as the traffic non existant at 5am.So i found that my average speed was about 12mph but heres my problem. My daily joyride borders between the city and its outskirts where there are many hills.I'm not talking about those that are quiet steep and sharp, but those that go upwards for more than a mile very softly slowly killing you:tired: .Most of my route consists of these type of mountains and i become really slow after conquering the first 2 or 3.My bike adjustment has no problems. So please help and i have been riding for two months now(apart form a two week break one week ago:secret:)

Keep doing what your doing, and after two years if you still feel slow going up hills, then move to flatter land (only joking)

Hills , endurance and speed all take time ,, it took me several years to get to the point of going up most hills without it killing me.

Just keep at it

Hills will get easier for you if, as others say, you keep at it
If I meet a short steep hill I tend to stay in a highish gear and attack the hill as fast as is reasonable
For long grinds I find a gear that seems a little lower than I could handle and just spin the pedals
I'm not saying this is the correct way, but it works for me ( usually !! )

The good thing about hills is going down the other side, or if commuting you get a downhill at least once a day.. Just noticed the fixie point, first question, why?

If you are beginner then I would say you would be better off with some gearing!

What I do not understand about Fixie riding is that Cycling can be hard enough at it is without adding no brakes and no gears!

:huh:Hold your horses........................okay since this is Cyclechat,Hold Your Brakepads.Me bike has Brakes, only no gears. In fact there is a whole forum on CC for Fixers(not those Fixers, the cycle varients) and singlespeed bikes. If you visit there and asked this same question, you would be greeted with a torrent(only sometimes) of bad language, less advice or a person who is fuming about Gears:laugh:So........................................

On a long easy hill i would drop down a gear or two and keep the Cadence up oh sorry you dont have that option do you ??^_^ Can only suggest that it will get easier as you get fitter provided you keep at it. Also keep your tyres at correct pressure.
