I've never used the 4 seasons TBH, but only because I've always used Gatorskins and never had a reason to change as they've never let me down.
i am going to try pushing down with my outer leg first then order some gaterskins if only for the winter

I'd almost bet that nervous braking is your problem. I've taken bends comfortably at 30-40 mph recently (downhill!) that I almost crashed on at 20 mph when I first started cycling again. If you really need to slow down for a bend, then do most of your braking before you get there!

One tip that helps a lot when cornering is to push your outside pedal down hard. It really helps your weight distribution and to 'plant' your bike firmly on the road. Try it and see what you think.[/quote ] Been out on ride this morning pushing down on the outside pedal worked a treat felt a lot more confident bike felt a lot more stable great bit of advice that guess this is what the forum is all about realy .Thanks again

I thought you'd forgotten to make a post there, but then I spotted it inside the quote!

I'm glad my tip helped you. I had it passed on to me by an experienced cyclist when he saw how bad my cornering was!

Obviously, you still have to be careful on bends. You can't do much about diesel spills because they are very hard to spot, but gravel deposits are obvious, drain covers and painted road markings are always dodgy in the wet, and if conditions are cold be aware of the risk of ice, especially in shaded dips in the road.

Have a good look at your braking technique and position on the bike - you should not be braking when you are into the corner - you need to scrub off your speed before you get to it. If you are in the corner and have the back brake on there is a risk the rear will slide. Your outside leg should be pushed hard down against the pedal and this will help increase the grip of the rear tyre - so if the bend is turning left push hard down on the right pedal, and look ahead to where you are going to come out of the bend - and be ready to apply the power to come out of the bend - don't look down at the wheel or the bike - this will ensure your body position is much better balanced.

Been out to day practising pushing down and i realy feel confident going around corners quicker went an put some gatorskins on they feel smoother on the road and run quicker . I bought them from halfords £26 each but you get to pick something for £ 25 -99 for free 3 for 2 i was thinking you could go out and get 6 tires for £ 108 that works out £18 for a conti gaterskin bargin.

The GP4000s is a performance tyre rather than an endurance tyre. If you imagine running across broken glass as en extreme example, then the GP4000's will suffer more damage than something like the Gatorskin, and subsequently they are more prone to punctures.

Like I said they GP4000s is a great tyre, but just don't expect them to last like the endurance versions.

As for mileage that depends on too many factors. My tyres never last anyway due to the condition of the roads around here, so even if someone told me a tyre would last 5000 miles, under my ownership I know full well that it wouldn't.

I go for puncture protection first and foremost these days, and touch would Gatorskins have never let me down
had my GP4000s for 2 months now ( do 44miles a day 5 days) and yes they are showing signs of cuts but tread is still great on them and not a atmospheric release yet PS run mine at 110PsI on the front and 120psi at the rear 9 im 6.1 and 11st

Whereas (despite being big - 15-16 stone) I prefer 90-ish front & 100-ish rear because the road surfaces in this area are (mostly) awful and I find lower pressures much more comfortable!
