I'm looking for a bit more speed and to help my Bontrager Satellite plus' last a bit longer as they're a great winter tyre. My thoughts were to buy something super-slick and I came across these, which seem good value given the chain reaction cycles additional 10% off code. I did a quick search for specs and found this set of specs which doesn't seem promising.

Michelin XC Road

Specifications
Weight 420g
PSI 29-58PSI
Tire Bead Steel
ISO Diameter 559 / 26" mtn
ISO Width 36mm
Color Tread/Side Black/Black
Tire Type Clincher
Tire Diameter 26"
Tire Use Road
33 tpi casing

What is a TPI casing? It seems that the lower you go, the less PSI you can run, these seem very low, only allowing 58PSI max. I currently run 26 x 1.5 tyres, 85PSI in the rear, 70 in the front and having had lower pressures over winter I really feel the difference running higher pressures. It seems to me these tyres aren't going to be the right thing. Is it actually worth going for a full slick for the summer months, or something like Continental Sport Contact with a miniscule bit of tread?

They look good! Specs seem much better than the Michelins too.

Lots cheaper than the Schwalbe Kojak's I was showin in the LBS... £35 per tyre!

I've used Specialized Nimbus Armadillo for years now. They're not slick though, they have enough tread to let you do most things except mud, but they're miles faster on the road than knoblies. Best of all they're incredibly hard to puncture.

I rode them in everything AND ice and as much as your likely to go slippery'do with them in those conditions - they'll grip in everything but ice ! (cept offroad)

I actually think they're a realistic option looking at internet prices. Not as expensive as the Conti's. I'll maybe put my Bontrager's back on for the worst of winter. I've never once had any loss of confidence in them and as a motorcycle rider I corner pretty hard, they've performed well in all weathers and I like the reflective sidewall but for summer I think the Fatboys would be good.
