Anyone doing the Skyride this Sunday ? I've signed myself and my six year old up just in case we have time after my middle childs birthday party, sounds like a fun thing to do with the family.
If we don't make this one then we have a choice of the Blackpool illuminations or London with the outlaws !

Yes we will be there - look out for a bloke on a blue/white and chrome Herety, accompanied by wife and two kids - I'll be in civvies....with Spesh Carbon Road shoes on...ahem............

Most likely be dragging my 'younger brother' along too - he will be the lanky one on a black BSO MTB.

7 year old daughter up for it so long as there are places to stop for 'refreshments' !!!!. Son of 9 would ride all day given the chance.....

The Blackpool one is very good - we went last year before Sky got involved - I think it will be even better this year...... we will be there again.

My daughter had just learnt to ride without stabilisers..... dad's 3 miles was 11 - she went bonkers at the end when I said it was 11 miles 'well done'............

We parked up at the top end of town (North) near the end of the closed road section - towards Fleetwood, then rode down via the coastal bike path. By the time we got as far as the 'main run', the police had closed the roads, so we hopped on and rode to the start.... was great, if slow, but had doughnuts on the way back. Had a stonking head wind to get to the Star Gate start though, made coming back (North) with youngsters easy though.

Had great fun despite the wind (really strong - had a struggle getting the bikes off/on the roof safely......)

Just back from the Manchester Skyride. Somehow although it was longer, it wasn't as good as last year's event. I didn't much like Castlefields as the event centre, it was gloomy and not very well sorted out. Gti junior washed out his front wheel on a dropped kerb and slammed down, hitting his head on the pavement; he'd have had worse than a grazed cheek if he hadn't been wearing his helmet, which is quite scratched. Mrs Gti fell off at the first traffic lights because while pimping her ride I tightened the SPD cleats and forgot to tell her.... ooops! I didn't fall off.

We got back about 3.00pm. Much busier than last time, castlefield bit was OK - looked good for lunch with the sausage hut thingy, but it was too early for us. But a bit disappointed with Sport City running ground - thought we'd be at the Velodrome again. Daughter fell off right by an ambulance and first aid team - so antiseptic wipe and plaster on knee.

Free water/Gatorade at 3 points was good. Roast Pork butty from catering van at Sport City was very good. Didn't spot the army of photographers anywhere taking pics at the 'start' though this year. Saw Vicky P and Gerrant Thomas roll off from the start.

Looks like we'll be buying a tag a long for daughter - she's just not 'keen' enough for the distances, and we only managed one 8 mile circuit. Would have done the kids bike slalom if we'd got round again.

Never made it ! Thought i was cutting it fine with number two's birthday bash today but that was the least of the problems today, bloody car has just had a shed load of work including a new turbo and it decides to bring a new fault into it's life by displaying an engine light and blowing lovely black smoke out back.If there is such a thing as God then will he(or she) please stop pi$$ing on me !!!!!
