I am thinking about doing this just because I have never done one, I will be cycling over from Harrogate.

I know my way into Leeds but is there a more traffic free way of getting into the centre rather than having to go down Scott Hall Road and in by the Merion Centre which is the way I would normally go if I was driving.

I have found a map of cycle routes on the council website but it isn't very detailed

Scotthall road is probably the most direct route, what about going
Up Pool bank, left at the crossroads down Otley old road to lawnswood and through headingley way?

We did the Manchester one last year and the Bolton one this year so looking forward to the Leeds one.
Its a bit far to peddle with a 3year old on the back so will be shooting up the motorway in the car.
Hope its better signed than Bolton which was poor.

Coming in from Harrogate go stright over the roundabout on the ring road in Leeds and at the second roundabout take the last exit before doubling back onto yourself onto Stonegate Road. Follow Stonegate Road going over roundabout and weird junction and descend following Stonegate Road until it becomes Meanwood Road continue along Meanwood Road go straight over a mini roundabout and a take a right hand turn at Oatland Road. At the top of Oatland Road turn left and pedal up the hill. The Merrion Centre will on the right by the traffic lights at the top of the climb.

Awesome thanks for that @vernon exactly the sort of route I was looking for  done a "dry run" on Street View so I know where I am going and it leads the exactly where I need to be near the merion centre.

I have no idea if these Sky Rides are any good I just thought it would be a nice pedal out and have a look I can always bugger off if its crap, the thing I cant understand is that it says the route is 3 miles yet the time allotted is 120 mins

They are not really intended to be like a club run , they are more family orientated, you will find 70% are occasional riders , mainly on MTB's plodding around with the kids in tow.
The main focal points along the route are for the kids.
I will be getting the old MTB out with the Tag along on for the daughter, and the wife will be following behind (she has 0% confidence on open roads, so its a great place to cycle on closed roads feeling safe.
If you want to TT your way round its the wrong place to be, if you want a ride over and enjoy the relaxed circuit with entertainment, then its spot on.

I will probably pop over and see what it is all about, if nothing else I get the ride there and back.

I don't think I will go, feel a bit odd if its aimed at kids and a 30+ fella is cycling on his own.

Everyone is there .. I may have miss lead in in my earlier post, you will see everyone there , from kids to old people ,, I was just pointing out its a long way from a sportive type ride.

I would go on my own and have done so a Cpl of times last year and I am the thick end of 40's

The Sky site says to "register" for the ride, do you have to? I can't be arsed to register my name to obtain a password to obtain approval to go for a friggin tootle around Leeds city centre. I may round up the kids and cycle in via the canal.
