I picked up a new water bottle while in Evans the other day and it came with three SIS powdered drinks .
I wont be using them for my rides as I havnt needed them so far and the list of stuff on the back makes me wonder if I really want that stuff . Having said that I may try them to see if they taste nice
Its got me thinking though . At what level of riding / racing do you really need to start drinking this stuff ?

If it's like the bottle I bought the other week you'll probably find that one of the sachets is an electrolyte drink, one is an energy drink, and one is a recovery drink.
For me, the electrolyte drink would be one to have on any ride especially on a hot day when you are losing sweat but not really noticing that you're working very hard.
The energy drink would be good to have if out going full guns blazing for more than an hour or so.
The recovery drink would be good to have within 30 mins after a ride if you've been going full tilt and have done the sort of ride that means you have to walk down stair sideways like a crab!
Just my personal opinion of course.

Its a shame the banana one is a recovery drink . I like banana flavoured drinks .

What is it about the list of stuff on the back that makes you wonder? Here's what's in a banana:

Blimey ! Im glad I'm growing my own fruit now ! No banana tree though
Just had a look at the link . I thought that was a list of stuff that was added to make the fruit last longer but it isn't

You never NEED these things, you could always find a "natural" way to get the nutrition, but in certain circumstances they are convenient or efficient.
