Hi everyone,

I'm taking part in the London - Cambridge bike ride on Sun 24th July. I'm a reasonably fit person and cycle approx 15 to 20 miles each day. I've riddin the London-Cambridge sort of distance in the past but not for a while so I've been a bit of training and all seems fine.
My question is, what does anybody think about taking a single speed bike over that distance? I've just bought a lovely single with a flip flop hub so I can at least free wheel (not sure I want the whole 'fixie' thing over that distance) I also own a decent hybrid with gears but I absolutely love my new, single speed bike. I'mnot intending going really quick all the way but want to have a decent pace. I dont anticipate any massive inclines but living in Cambridge we get nosebleeds on top of a speed bump.
Or is there anyone else riding a similar bike.

Hope tohear from some of you.

Thanks for reading

You'll be fine so long as there are no big hills, and there's no time limit or anything.

On the dun run at the weekend there were loads riding fixed and singlespeed and some riding back to London afterwards. If you are confident you can handle any hills you will be fine.

I did it a few years ago and half way return on fixed. Sore legs the following day, but no biggie. There are no big hills, but a few short sharp climbs. The big problem is the large number of inexperienced riders all over the place who kill your momentum on the climbs
