Hi,

I bought a vintage Simoncini frame a while back, I believe it to be quite valuable but have really struggled to find anywhere I can even identify the frame. If anyone knows of a site I can identify frames by number etc that'd be really helpful. Or if anyone can just give me a point in the right direction.

Thanks

@Cdunne1 I have a Simoncini, welcome to the club:welcome:. @biggs682 does too, or did have. He had one with the logo engraved onto the head tube, whereas I have a later one with just a sticker. They may not have the same prestige as some of the other Italian brands, but they are very good bikes, I only have a frame, in Columbus SLX and don't have the original fork but it rides brilliantly. The marking on the bottom bracket on mine is a 57, which relates to the frame size in cm. It also has 'sprint' engraved on the bottom bracket, which I assume relates to some extra stiffness there, but otherwise there are no other marks on it.

I came here previously asking about Simoncini and @biggs682 provided the same info he has above, and I did make contact, and they did reply back, so I'm sure he'll do the same again.

Good luck, and to add to the requests already, come on now, shows us some pics, condition doesn't matter, we love a diamond in the rough^_^

Went to look at a Vitus 979 frame a chap was selling locally, which I ended up buying as he only wanted £70 for it and it came with some clean Mavic Ma2 wheels on Miche hubs. He then shows me this Simoncini bike he is also selling. I’ve come across them before. No almost nothing about them other than they are a smaller Italian bike company and the original Simoncini had built frames for Colnago and Benetto before starting his own company. I was going to walk away and think about it but something inside me said buy it! So I did. I hope I didn’t pay too much at £430 but it did come with full Chorus groupset, Mavic wheels on Chorus hubs and a nice and clean Flite saddle. I’ve seen the posts in this thread and another so will try to see if the current Simoncini can help with a bit more history. It’s a lovely thing. Very light with Columbus SL badges to identify the steel. Any thoughts from the collective. Are there other Simoncini owners out there?

I may do a separate thread as this is an older one and may miss some people.

Don't know much about Simoncini (wasn't he the bass player in The Class?). Did you pay too much? Where else could you buy a Italian classic bike in that condition ?

Exactly! It felt like a great deal and I’m happy but not aware of the marketplace value of the brand. EBay currently has a few examples. Not the same model and prices are all over but a lot more than what I have paid. And it was Paul Simonon who played bass for the Clash 😊
