Hi I'm a newbie here and only just getting back into cycling since riding as a youngster...I'm hoping this will be a great place to learn about all aspect of biking.

I've recently bought a bike from a newish company that makes bespoke bikes and asked for mine to have silver flat mudguards. The ones I was shown on the example bikes were http://www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/blb-classic-alloy-fenders-polished-silver

However when I picked up the bike it has RSP mudgards on .. I'm just wondering are these a good subsitute. Should I contest it as I only realised when I got the bike home.

Its seems like a silly just wondered what your views are?

Many thanks.

Total newbie...

Depends if they charged you for the BLB ones at £49 but have you the RSP ones that were less?

If they charged you for the ones you have, then there's no issue.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Hello. Welcome to the forum. :welcome:. As above if you have been charged the right price for the ones you have, then that Is one thing. But if you really want the ones you ordered then contact them. Of course you will have to pay the extra, and send the other ones back. Do you want to go through all the hassle? Good luck

Thanks so much for the quick responses .. it was just a set fee for alloy mudguards silver £55.

I can't seem to find a price for the RSP ones online just on ebay but I don't know if this is RRP It is similar to link below ( don't trust prices on ebay) :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/4009...3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108

you're right though it may not be worth the hassle? They do seem quite sturdy but again no experience to know any different!

Thanks again ;)

Aesthetically they might be pleasing, but, I'd guess that they're like the Salmon Profils I had on my Dyna-Tech for a few years (only guard that would fit & with only '20' tyres!!)

They did their job fairly well, but in heavy rain (& on just wet-roads), a lot bypassed them, & you got wetter legs

They should have asked you before substituting any of the components you were shown.

Contact them and ask why .

I wouldn't be happy. It defeats the point of having a bespoke bike made for you.
