Silly Question?

I have a Ridgeback MX2 and have put on Schwalbe City Jet tyres as someone who trundels along at a steady if slow pace I usually do a run once a week of 12-15miles on cycle tracks but may aim to go to 30 in time ..I am a 52 yr old unfit male...would I notice any significant difference if I purchased a hybrid bike circa £300-£400, or would this be a waste of my readies.

I don't think you'll notice a significant difference unless you get a bike that's much lighter, that will make a difference on the hills.
