I've just put a brand new pair of 2015 Fulcrum racing 5s on my bike and whilst they feel great, the freehub (shimano) is almost silent when freewheeling. Checked their website and had a look on Google - if anything, people are commenting on how loud they are (albeit on earlier models). Have Fulcrum designed the 2015 racing 5s it this way or do they need sending back? Cheers!

It may get louder after the grease thins..they look nice for the money..
you cant get at the pawls on shimano..as there cup and cone..
you can use the little grease port to ad a thinning oil but the grease is in there to lube

I've always found Shimano to be quieter than other brands. I run 105 hubs on both my road bikes and they are nearly silent under freewheel.

My 5s are noisy. Always have been, i like it, lets people know you're behind them.
I did experiment by lubricating with oil in the ratchet area instea\d of grease, it does quieten them down but its something you'd probably have to do regularly because after several hundred miles, they start to click more again.

Older 5 and especially 7s were really loud... The newer ones have been quietened down a lot, but will get a bit louder as they wear.

I prefer silent, although some regard the tick-tick from Hope hubs as 'the sound of quality'.
