From the organisers website:

"Awwww…. The baby brother. Once again, we’ll take you over the Clee and bring you back down the Corvedale valley with the wind at your back. Probably. It’s a great way to get into sportive riding providing a proper but manageable challenge. Have a break at Caynham after the climb and roll back in"

This is descriptive of the 50 mile route. Can anyone tell me just how terrifying is the Clee. Is it long and steady, short and steep or long and steep! My wife has relatives in Whitchurch and I thought I could combine a visit to Shropshire with this event.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

Have a look!

It looks as if the route goes along the A road from Cleobury Mortimer up to Clee Hill. It's a twisty, turny, up-and-downy road, ending up in a stiff climb (?1 in 10 for half a mile) up to a bend, a garage (and a right turn off towards Mrs W's mother's house), followed by a short exposed section to Clee Hill plant hire and village, which will be covered with sheep and very cold if it's a foul day.

For that part of the country it's almost flat.

I know this area well as it is my stamping ground. To answer your question, as SRW says, it is the route from Cleobury Mortimer up and to Clee. It is not ferocious and can be described as a long drag and fairly unpleasant if the road is busy. However, the rest of the route is fairly decent albeit a roller coaster that is fairly energy sapping. It is a nice part of the country. I am in fact running an event through that area in August but the start point is a bit of a journey from Whitchurch.

Past the top of the m-in-law's drive, in fact - she lives in Cleeton St Mary. I shall bear it in mind.
