I've been lucky enough to lose nearly 3 stone over the last year or so. Feel much fitter and faster, but the downside is my favourite jersey no longer fits, and the manufacturer has stopped making this particular design.

If I wash it at a very high temperature, will it shrink a bit (like in the cartoons ;)) or will I just destroy it?

It's 100% polyester if that helps.

You'll just damage it rather than shrink it.

Just stopped eating rubbish really, and cut on down the beer. Also really cut back on bread, potatoes & pasta. Took some willpower, but feel a lot better for losing the weight.

The weird thing was, I also stopped commuting by bike because I started to work from home a lot more. Instead I started going for a run in the mornings instead of commuting - I think that must have burned more calories than the ride to work.

I too have also had a dramatic weight loss in about the past 5 months from 18 and a half stone down to 15 and a half, just by cycling a mere 4 miles to work about 4 times a week. On my days off though I bang occasional rides in from 18 to 50 miles if I have the time.

Not even cut out the junk food or the beer. I look at the labels on every thing I eat and roughly calculate 2000 calories and stop when I reach it, most days now I do not even get that many calories and still not feel hungry. If I go out on the town I calculate 10 beers at 160 calories each and the 400 calories is for food plus I eat a few of the following days calories. But whether its right or wrong, I'm loosing weight, and feeling a lot fitter and rareing to go all the time. Just hope the wind drops for tommorow I want to fit a couple of rides in.

Buy a new jersey you deserve it...then frame the old one and put it up on the wall as a reminder of where you don't ever want to go again.

Just keep the old jersey as a reminder  and buy a new one.

I unfortunately have the opposite situation - I have old jerseys and skinsuits from when I used to race and they are so tiny I find it hard to believe I was ever that slim
