My local club run this morning at the medium pace group when 2 "new" riders turn up with matching kit on one of these each.

They promptly go to the front and some guys follow , the rest of us go at the pace that the group is designed for at let them go into the distance.

They wait a few times but take a wrong turn without asking and disappear into the distance, at the cake stop i raise the point that if they want to go for it they should have gone with the big boys chain gang as they clearly wanted to race .

Or could they not hack it with the fast group so get their kicks with guys who are out for a more leisurely ride on bikes costing about 10 % of what they paid ?
( i know the bike does not a fast rider make but a bike weighing 6.7 kg compared to one of around 11 kg , it sure helps.)

EDIT..
Changed the title to reflect what i meant and .
Just had a look and were are talking £3000 for just the frame .... Sheesh !

Sound like peanuts big-fish-in-small-pond, all the gear no idea types, possibly!

I really dislike Pinarellos but even I have to admit, that's one sexy looking bike
As for the riders, don't sound very sociable to me, no great loss...

Sounds like poor communication from the established riders, expecting new riders to know what to expect and allowing them to get lost.

Unfortunately is was stated at the start of the ride, i had to tell them to stop once and wait after maybe 5 miles before they got to far ahead and after that they blasted off without a care for the rest of the group.

If they wanted to stay with the group they were given plenty of guidance of what was expected, heck when they took the wrong turn i was shouting at them to wait but they choose to ignore it,
The ride leaders job was performed very well, the new guys were told numerous times but decided to go off anyway so the ride leaders kept the rest of the group together .

Edit i was playing half way house and trying to get them to wait by speeding up to them and keeping tabs but i could see what they wanted was not to wait so i eventually soft pedaled and waited for the rest .

So they're new to the club and they opted for for the medium pace group. Sounds sensible to me!

It was not the opting for the medium pace group i had issues with and their bikes ( nice bikes maybe the thread title needs amending), rather then sod the rest we are going this speed, it is clearly stated on the website and with communications what speeds the different groups run at.

I had excellent communication with the club secretaries before i decided what group to join about speed , the sort of riding etc etc .

Clearly stated that the medium group is for those who are getting used to group riding and to stay together .
