Well, I have gained some movement according to my physio but only in one direction and the pain is no better. She has referred me back to the GP with the recommendation it should be x-rayed.

To be honest, it was one of the first things they should have done, but at least I've had physio so the GP should be happy to refer me to ortho's now.
I see the GP on Monday so fingers crossed!

Can you cross your fingers or is it too sore?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

An MRI would be a good idea for soft tissue.
Exactly.
But they haven't even given me an XR to rule out Arthritis. (I was a nurse for 20 years so I could have deterioration in the joint due to heavy lifting)
How they can justify physio when they don't know what's wrong is beyond me!

Physio as I understand it is also used to aid mobility, provide an exercise programme, relieve swelling etc rather than necessarily fix the issue. I have a meniscus tear and bone wear, physio may help but won't heal the damage

Do they not have a diagnosis at all?

Hope it all gets sorted

No diagnosis.
First GP said it was a muscle tear in the shoulder. Painkillers and rest.
Back a month later and second GP said it was coming from my neck joint (I have arthritis) and was nerve pain. Given meds.
Back another month later. First GP then said no, it's the shoulder, and referred me to physio.
I waited 5 months for an appointment and was on the verge of going to a private Sports physio when the appointment came through.

Physio said she wasn't sure what it was but I had limited mobility in the shoulder so she was treating that.

After a few weeks of physio (exercises and deep tissue massage) she declared I had better movement.
But the pain remained and was no better.
Back to GP number 3 on Monday!

I am predisposed to muscle tears and soft tissue injuries due to my FM.
I told one GP that the pain felt like the micro tears I get in my muscles (I've had surgery for tendon releases etc) but it wasn't acknowledged.
