I lifted the bike into the car about a month ago felt someting funny in the shoulder blade/upper back area and have been suffering ever since (although it doesn't physically stop from doing anything tbh). It's a type of injury that I've never experienced before, there are no bumps, grazes, bruises or any external indications at all, the pain is not constant but it feels like a cigarette burn or an insect trying to burrow in, it can be very very sore when it strikes. Any ideas??

Don't know if it helps you but I had a lot of pain in my shoulder and although I rested it for ages it wouldn't get better so I ended up at doctors. Had a scan, there was swelling in the joint so one cortisone injection later I'm pain free ( touch wood). I did the same as you lifted something ( in my case a heavy suitcase) into the car and heard it squelch, I knew I'd damaged it! Go to the doctors he told me shoulder injuries are really common and usually fairly straightforward to treat.

See a GP.

You'll possibly be referred to a consultant. Shoulders are very complicated. Just had mine decompressed after a RTC over two years ago.

Possibly a tear, possibly rotator cuff, but do get it checked out.
