As some may know from my previous thread in the kit and clothing section that I have had a few bad experiences with bib shorts from Tenn. I kept having a problem with the reflective decals peeling of so I returned them and bought a pair of DHB Roubaix bib shorts from Wiggle, twice as much but supposedly good quality.
I have found them very comfortable to ride in on my daily commute and I have been pleased so far. They have probably been worn for no more than ten commuting days in total and I haven't yet taken them out for a long weekend ride, so less than 200 miles in all. I go to put them on for the ride home from work this afternoon and I notice that there are threads sticking out from between the legs. The fabric has partially worn on the rear left quadrant of the pad on the outside and loads of individual threads have bobbled up along a 2" long stretch. There is also the start of the same happening on the rear right quadrant of the pad.
I will upload an image of the shorts as soon as I can, I need to dig out the camera first.
Is this just normal wear and tear or would you say this is a little premature? The bib shorts as I said have seen little use and were bought new just over two weeks ago. Could it be something to do with the saddle or the shape of thighs that it causing this? I have worn a pair of DHB Earnley waist shorts day in day out since March with no deterioration to the fabric at all.
Is it worth contacting Wiggle over this or should I just accept it as normal wear and if so how long will it be before the fabric goes completely?
Cheers,
Tom.
