Thought I'd put this in the beginner section rather than technical.....

My front derailleur cable seems to be quite slack when on the smaller ring. When on the big ring it tightens up nicely. .......
Is this normal ????
It shifts fine but thought I'd ask the question anyway as iv just noticed it
Cheers

You just need to pull it through a little more. Undo bolt on mech, and pull it tighter (not too much though)

Provided the front mech is adjusted to fall back just enough on to its screw stop setting you shouldn't run into problems losing the chain off the small ring. However.....the slack cable is inefficient and will demand a possibly excessive amount of shifter movement to get it to climb onto the next ring.....it can also-annoyingly-'clack' against the frame while it is slack. Ideally...you should pull the cable through so that it is just taut enough at the low setting. Not a biggy? (famous last words!)
