Hi, I had a puncture on the front tyre today and noticed this rip:

Should I replace the tyre?
If so, do you think I should remove the newish tyre from the rear wheel, put that on the front and put the brand new tyre on the rear?

Thanks.

As its the front I'd replace it.
I go by the Sheldon Brown advice of putting the newest/ best tyre on the front.

yikes, I'm blase about tyres but that looks a bit bad

but perhaps it's only the rubber and not the carcass? can you feel it when riding?

I know the argument for the front but all the flats happen at the back so I put the good one there, without letting the front get silly natch

Hi, I only ever used to get punctures on the rear tyre, but I'm getting more and more punctures on this front tyre now.
This has been on for 3 years, used every day and it's wearing thin, so I'll be changing it. Not worth risking a blow-out.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Change it - for such extensive damage to happen there may well have been pre-existing weakness in the tyre in that area.

Change it.. don't screw with it.. glue it.. or anything else.. just change it . If that lets go in the middle of a high speed corner, you'll be most displeased..
