I'd stick with the Felt. It's a lightweight, high end alu frame with comfort geometry and plenty of low end gearing which is perfect as a first road bike. The paint job and finishing on the Felts are second to none. You won't be disappointed and you'll be a lot less stressed about snapping or damaging it.

Ooooohhh, decisions decisions! I'd hate to chose between those two!

Sorry, can't actually help having ridden either but a friend of mine had the Cayo, and although it was a great bike, he felt it was actually too stiff and sold it.
It may have been just him though, as you say, they get rave reviews.

Personally, I'd probably go for the carbon, just because of how impressed I am by my TCR but, how different that is to a Focus? I have no idea.

Good luck either way

I have the Cayo with SRAM and cycled 2000+ miles this year.
If this is a starter bike for you, i would say either bike would be fantastic as both have 105s.

I started cycling only 4 years ago with a Focus Ergoride circa £600 and it lasted me well over 2 years and lots of miles and then upgraded to Cayo Carbon.
If you get the bug then make your next bike Carbon and spend lots more.................

I have the Cayo 105 after upgrading from a Specialized Allez in May. Really love it but I cannot compare it to Felt as I've not ridden the Felt. If you're like me I hate waiting. Once I've made my mind up I want it NOW. Anyway good luck with your decision and I'm sure you'll be pleased with either bike.
