Shorts without the lunchbox?

Anyone know if it is possible to get shorts that are somewhere between the full lycra and the MTB style baggies? Lycra is the very best for riding a road bike but if I go out with my wife for a more leisurely ride I want to wear something a bit less revealing for when we stop/walk about. Baggies are not practical as I find them uncomfortable when road biking.

Endura Humvees? Er, if you find any lycra shorts which come up a bit higher at the front and provide a bit more coverage for the hamster, do let me know...

Try what i do Endura padded under shorts then various lengh shorts from those Soccer sports shops at five quid a throw.Have got three pair all different length's depending on the weather.
