Any recommendations for padded shorts for women, either the baggy style or leggins/tight fit?

The missus can't find any that are either comfortable or fit her properly - 'They all come up to my belly button,' is the common complaint.

Cheers

I got some super cheap reduced shorts and 3/4 cycling shorts from sports direct of all places and they are excellent. Really well fitting and comfy. Obviously the quality isn't going to be as good as really expensive shorts but I think they're great. Other than that I've been using shorts from Decathlon and for baggies I've got Endura Singletrack.

Height and waist measurements ?
The sizes on cycling clothing seem to be based on some sort of fixed height to waist ratios
so if you're fatter or thinner you'll potentially suffer from length problems.
I stopped buying XL as I seem to fit an L despite being 6' 3" and a 36-37" waist.

I've had to give up with Gore and Pearl Izumi shorts for just this reason - they're way too short at the top and I really don't want hipsters (or 'low rise' in the current jargon) for cycling. However, I've found that Giordana shorts are: a) much higher and fit into the waist with a proper waist band and b) are superb quality with a really good pad.

Wiggle keep several models from them - they're not the cheapest shorts around but they should last years if well looked after.

Ah, I think she has the opposite problem to you then, Fiona - they're too high on her so she wants them lower (I quote: 'When I lean over on the bike they're up under my boobs'). Maybe the Gore of Pearl Izumi are worth a go for her - any other recommendations for hipster models appreciated!

Ian - she is small - 5'1" with a 26" waist. She seems to have problems with all types of clothing...or maybe it just seems that way to me

I have a pair of specialized 3/4 length tights. I'm a similar waist size (although taller) and they fit me well - I also have a terry skort and that's a hipster sort - the padding is comfy on it too. I got the Terry stuff from minx girl. I've also tried gore on and they seem nice too, that will be my next pair I think. I hate high waisted stuff, but it does mean you have the problem of finding a longer jersey!!
