Hi Gang., I'm going to be loaning a roadbike soon and am looking for a pair of spd shoes to get. Looking for something on the lower end of the market as the bike will be going back after a month.

any advice/recommendations would be great

Wiggle do a DHB Option, under £40 for their SPD or road shoe

Road shoes with SPD-sl, look type three bolt triangular cleats do not have these recessed and thus as they sit proud of the shoe, it can be slippery walking especially on hard/shiny/tiled surfaces. You end up walking gingerly heel first a bit like a duck!

SPD two bolt cleats more used on MTB or touring shoes are recedes see so you walk on the sole of the shoe more rather than the cleat. The cleats last longer too as a result

There's a good clipless FAQ in the beginner section which explains more

Nice one. yeah i'd been advised to go for SPD's for that exact reason. getting a pair under £50 is proving to be mission impossible dun dun dun dun dun dun dun udn udn d un dun du nd un und d und und udn udn und
