how many of you actually use road cycling shoes? I still use normal trainers but am seriously considering buying road cycling shoes, although i still use the old fashion straps.
Can you use any cycling shoes wih them?

Cycling shoes tend to come with cleats for spd or spd sl the sole of cycling shoes are designed to be 'grippy'

I use Specialized Sonoma on flat pedals, smooth sole. stiffer, bit slippy when wet, sure they'd be fine with clips (and you can always add SPDs later)

I use MTB SPD's as I need to walk from the bike shed at work to my office. But I need to walk so often in my shoes I can't imagine ever being able to wear fully road shoes. I prefer the style of MTB SPD's better anyway, plus they seem to be cheaper

Hi Gavroche.
I've started using SPD pedals & shoes. The shoes are excellent tbh. Just like wearing trainers. Previously I was using the old fashioned straps. If you're going to continue with the straps then I'd reccommend a pair of stiff soled normal trainers.

I use SPD's on both my road bikes and my mountain bike. Hwever I do use MTB shoes as they have grippy soles and are easy to walk in. Make the switch, you won't regret it...just takes a bit of getting used to. I couldn't imagine riding in normal shoes now!

For commuting I use steel toe capped boots with toeclips and straps, for running errands I use trainers and clips and straps and for Club/leisure rides I use cycle shoes, spd's, with clipless pedals, Time free Rides.
