Hello all,

Have just purchased some clipless pedals now I need shoes looking for reccomendations. I have bought shimano m520's as thought they would be a good starter pedal. Shoe wise not worried about walking comfort, but i don't want something that looks like i'm trying to be a pro as clearly I am not lol. By they way this is my second post and from the first I ended up buying a Giant SCR1 and it's been perfect so hope i get another good reccomend!!!!

Cheers

I've got those pedals they are great, work a treat!

I went for the specialized MTB Sport shoes, they are really comfortable, fit my feet really well, I can walk around in them no problem (short distances to from bike shed/office etc), they deff look the part to.

More importantly since using them my knee pains have pretty much gone!! Make sure you get them set up correctly though

Shimano tend to be on the narrow side, best to try a pair on before you buy, personally I like Specialized Somas...

I have a pair of Spesh Tahos. The sole is pretty stiff (not as stiff as a road shoe though,) and they are OK on my wide feet. The DHB got good reviews in terms of value in a recent WMTB review of shoes.

I don't find the shimano shoes particularly narrow, but recently bought a pair (wsd) and needed a size larger than in my normal shoes.... The sizing guide on the shimano website is pretty accurate tho...

I have the specialized mtb and road shoe. Found the Shimano to be very narrow in the toe section. IMO Bike Radar saaaatemnt is spot on "Probably the most comfortable entry-level shoes you can buy""

Fitting wise i guess will depend on ur feet, but im usually a size 10 on normal shoes, and a size 45 fits me spot on with these mtb shoes. Soles very stiff, prity light wieght too. I found the tahos were quite heavy, but im sure they would do the job just as well!

Like above the bike radar review is spot on!!

I have the same shoes and would definitely recommend them. I also plan on buying a pair of Shimano MT-32's for when I need to be walking around for long periods because they look like normal shoes.

Maybe I have wider that average feet, I don't know, but I have always been disappointed by the fit of Shimano shoes as I rather like the look (and the price) of them...

Either way I would recommend anyone buying shoes to try them on first as there is so much variation between Lasts...
