Shimano Tourney STI shifters cable replaced - seated badly?

Hi,

I've just replaced the cable on the shimano tourney sti shifters to find that it isn't shifting, and it gets stuck to the left. I did the obvious and checked the slack etc the little needle gets stuck to the left. I tried to take the cable back out thinking that i may be seated in correctly but I can't push it out as its now jammed. Any ways to get it out and what might have caused it?

any ideas are welcomed,

Could be the nipple on the gear cable. If it isn't seated right down then it jams the mechanism.

I usually push and pull on the cable whilst trying to click the lever (gently) and it frees itself eventually.

I've been trying that for the last hour now with no luck :S any more ideas? Thinking if i pour some lube into it?

What is the model code? Usually it is something like SLxxxx on the belly of the shifter body.

Have you tried loosening the brake cable to allow you to pull the lever back to help see/access the gear cable/nipple? It can be a very fiddly job requiring loads of patience. This might be of some help.
