My bike has Tiagra shifters and Sora mechs 9speed and double on front. The left shifter is kaput and as they are not rebuildable I am thinking a change to Campag shifters might be my best bet.
I have been informed that the front will work OK as Campag front shifters are not indexed (looking at something like Xenon level) but the rear will need a Campag derailleur and will work with the shimano cassette. Can any one confirm this?
Cheers Steve.

Campag shifters and rear mech do work with a Shimano cassette, thats what I have, I got lbs to do the work cause I didnt have the confidence to do the mech adjustment. Campag shifters tend to be cheaper at entry level than shimano shifters at the same level(if you know what I mean)...Ribble cycles usually have decent offers on.

You DO NOT want to change the rear mech if you intend to keep the Shimano cassette/freehub/wheel. You need 10sp Campag shifter if the existing is 8sp, and 11sp if the existing is 9sp. See this.

Read it again and the closest seems to be Campag 10 speed and the hubbub mod to the rear cable attachment. and Ribble have 10 speed shifters for £65.

My set up is 10 speed, I started with campag all round but bought 2nd hand wheels from clubmate, they had a Shimano freehub, so a Shimano cassette was a less expensive way to go rather than a new freehub and it works great.

Shimagnolo / Campagano

Don't do it. Pet hate of mine mixing brands, and don't even go into mixing groupsets.
I have been doing that for years. I have no intention of being a slave to one manufacturer.

Check out Microshift. Cheap, robust and lightweight. Fully Shimano compatible and a friend of mine who rides with Dura ace and Super Record on his best bikes rates them highly.

Isn't there a converter gizmo to adapt Shimano to Campagnolo and vice versa? <Google> Why yes there is : http://jtekengineeri...m/shiftmate.htm

[Edit] which I now notice gets a mention at the bottom of the link posted by RecordAceFromNew.

.

Shiftmate is redundant if using Campag 10 speed Shifters with a Shimano 9 speed cassette - just re-route the cable on the Shimano mech as per "Hubbub".

Simple, cheap, and very effective - at least it has been for me. Rode some 4000 miles on that set up over last 2 years (until I could afford a new bike with all Campag groupset).

Campag levers also have advantage over low end Shimano in cable routing and in having brake q/r in the lever.

I tried a 9 speed shimano wheel on my Campag equiped bike at the weekend and was surprised how well it all worked, Almost better in fact.....
