This is on a little-used Claud Butler Levante bike I've recently bought, and which is in very good condition having not been used much by its previous owner. The issue I've discovered is with the LH changer, a Shimano ST-R225.
With no load on the shifter, it appears to operate correctly, on all three up and downwards, thumb and fingertip control, positions. With the load of the front dérailleur reapplied to it, tho', it skips the middle position on the fingertip release - it jumps from large to smallest cog, missing out the middle one. It does completely 'jump' - there is no 'click' left over once it's done this - it isn't a matter of gear position adjustment. There must be something amiss with the release mechanism that doesn't operate in the stages as it should. Q is, is it unfixable wear, or a known issue that can be repaired?
Any ideas? If I need to buy replacements, that's no biggie, but I do like to try and fix stuff. Any guidance?!
