Hi All
I've just bought an old (2004) Giant OCR3 road bike to use as a winter hack.

The brake / gear levers are as stated in the thread title, and at the moment don't work.. I'm guessing (hoping ! ) that they are just in need of a really good clean.

I can't find much about them on the internet, so am hoping someone on here might have some knowledge of these; or even better, a link to some diagrams of the internals..

For starters . . . how do you even disconnect the brake and gear cables from these levers !!!??

Many thanks

Click the thumb shifter all the way until it doesn't click anymore. Then push the whole brake lever inwards towards the stem of the bike. Hold it there and if you look closely you will see the nipple end of the cable.
You will be able to push it out to replace it. It can be a little bit fiddly, but not too bad.

Thanks for the reply .

Does the above method give access to BOTH the gear and brake cables ??

No, sorry mate. Release or cut the old brake cable then pull the lever as if you are braking right down to the bars.
Then, again, look closely and you will see the cable nipple.
Good luck with the repairs!
