Shimano replace M151 with M410 cchainset

I have changed a M151 chainset with M410, both are square taper but the M410 seems to have moved chainline outwards. My rather basic reading of bottom bracket sizes seemed to indicate it would have been a straight swap. Can some one help me out. Bike is a hybrid Giant crs3 with a FSA RPM cartridge , do I need to change the bottom bracket ?Thanks.

What size bottom bracket do you currently have? Looking at your other thread it looks like you're trying the same conversion that I did with my bike (write up about it here if you're interested).

I needed to use a 68x113 bottom bracket with my M410 chainset as per Shimano's recommendation which gave the right chain line. I do however notice that there is another version of this chainset (M410-8) which needs a different size BB. Which chainset do you have?

Thanks for prompt reply,Phil, I will read your article. I have looked again at the Shimano leaflet and seen the M140-8 with a shorter 113 bracket . Interestingly the Shimano package of the chainwheel had tick boxes for 48/38/28 and 42/32/22 (mine) which indicates a M411 as its produced in both sizes. I will study box for further clues and I will learn how to measure a bb and hopefully post again tomorrow.

Well, I hope it's of use. For what it is worth I found the leaflet that came with the chainset a bit confusing and took my time working out exactly which bottom bracket I needed. Conveniently it was one I already had in my parts box as I'd bought the wrong size for a previous project.^_^
